Parents and prospective students often wonder about the quality of education at various universities.
Recently one of our sophomores who graduated from a large competitive high school in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, spoke about the challenge and rewards of the academic life at OVU. But it’s not just anecdotal evidence that points to OVU being a good academic school.
The National Survey of Student Engagement released in November investigated that question at 1500 colleges. Take a look at how OVU fared on several of the level of academic challenge issues:
- Does your institution emphasize studying and academic work? At OVU 93% of the students said yes compared to 83% nationally
- Did you discuss grades or assignments with an instructor? OVU students said yes 84% of the time while nationally 60% said yes
- Did you spend more than 10 hours/week preparing for class? At OVU 73% of the students responded positively against 63% nationally
- Did you participate in community service or volunteer work? OVU students said yes 73% of the time while at the national level the response was 40%
Student comments, ranking services and national surveys all agree. OVU gets an A+ in Academics.
